E.J. Dease: “The Light That Shines” CD
CD Design / Packaging
E.J. Dease is also known as Elisa Fiorillo.
“The Light That Shines” is a CD that was produced by Jeff Silverman (Palette Music-Studio-Productions) and Chuck Murphy. Chuck, Jeff and I also wrote 2 of the songs on the CD: “I Know” and “Heaven Would Be Hell With You,” so this was a creative project for me not only for the CD Design, but also for being a songwriter.
One of the things that I like to do is to try to get a feel for the artist’s vision for their CD Package and design. This includes gathering images as well as discussing colors and fonts. Elisa’s photographer provided the front and back cover photos and Elisa really liked orange background and wanted to incorporate this throughout the CD package. Another color she was particularly partial to was purple. To keep the concept of the light that shines, I added a slight hint of rays on the front cover and I also happened to have a candle that was the exact same orange color that I thought would add a nice touch to the inside. I also needed to have something to break the orange and purple on the back of the traycard. The rope border is actually a photo of a curtain tieback that Elisa had. I this stitched together to make the transition in keeping with the Country theme.
In keeping with “light” concept I also use the sunset photo on the disc and the inside traycard.
